Description
Plant stems can grow from a height of 1 m to more than 5 m, depending on the species. Heliconia leaves are very similar to banana tree leaves with smaller sizes and more varied colors. Heliconia flowers are really hidden behind attractive flower petals and look big. These flower petals give an exotic appearance to Heliconia. The pseudo flower is a veil (leaf petals). This pseudo flower consists of various colors, such as pink, red, orange and green with a shape resembling a shrimp claw that grows hanging or facing up. In one plant consists of several sheaths that grow in one bunch. The fastest propagation is by tubers, propagation by seed is quite long and the seeds that grow sometimes have a different colors of flowers from the parent because of the pollination process.
